Christmas cards

Since last Christmas I said that I was done making fabric postcards for ever, that meant I needed to try something new for this year. This years cards are on paper and were printed on a gelatin plate. I love my gelli plates but decided to use a real gelatin plate for these. Here are a few of the finished cards, these are the leftovers that I wasn't quite as happy with.

This is the stencil I cut out of tyvek and used in a two color process that I had learned in an online class.

It was a fun process and each card came out slightly different.

I've been working on the paper pieced project made out of vintage silk ties, I've also tossed in some sari silk and vintage kimono silk. Only 11 more blocks to go, then I'll sew them together and do the tedious removal of the paper pieces.

  4. Your silk project is lovely...did you use anything to stabilize the silk first? What type of leaf is that? Your stitching is always inspiring!

    1. Thank you, I didn't stabilize the silk so it was a bit fussy to work with. The leaf is from a mulberry tree.

  5. Your cards are great, and your silk project is lovely. I wouldn't want to work with silk, but the finished quilt will be heavenly.
