A glitch in our normal lives

My husband has been dealing with some health issues recently, we've been through one surgery and have another coming up that is yet to be scheduled. Since it is a problem that can't be handled at our local hospital, or with a local doctor we've been spending time driving to Boise and back. I'm trying to keep up with posting but if I'm missing for a week or two, that will be the reason. His prognosis is good, it's just all the Dr. visits and surgeries are time consuming, so we'll get through it.

I did a quilt top early this week that when finished will be a donation quilt. The aqua sashing is really quite light and bright, but looks grayed in photos.

Several Projects Progressing

I've been doing a bit of stitching on several projects this week, trying to get a couple of them done.

The cyanotype leaf quilt has finally spent some time with the sewing machine, I've got 3 of the 5 blocks done. Lots of circles in the blue background, probably hard to see but they are there.

I would like to get this done before next week and will probably enter it in the county fair.

Also have been doing hand stitching on the piece dyed with avocado pits.

A few more rounds of stitching added and I wrapped the outer line of stitching so that it didn't look so wimpy. Looks like this one is going to be concentric circles.

Sunflowers

These are the towering sunflowers in my back yard, it's like a sunflower forest. That's the roof of my neighbors house in the background. I was standing when I took the picture, I think this year they are the tallest they've ever been. I planted a few along our fence 14 years ago the first summer we lived here and have had sunflowers ever since. I pull out handfuls of them in the spring that are growing where I don't want them, but generally just let the rest grow.

Just a detail picture, I forgot to take one of the whole piece. The outside line looks wimpy to me so I may add more to it.

New Starts

I've started 2 new projects this week, my 3rd in the series of daily stitching and a project for SAQA's 100 days of creativity.

2019 Daily Stitching #3, days 1-7

Same size as the last 2, but this time in greens.

I still don't know what I'll be stitching in the middle, but something will happen.

SAQA 100 days of creativity

I started with a 45" x 60" piece of fabric that I screen printed several years ago.

Cut it into 5" squares

And now I'm adding stitching to a square a day, here are the squares from the first 4 days.

In October when they are all stitched I will rearrange them and stitch them back together.

I've also started quilting the cyanotype leaf quilt, so far just the leaves are done.
