A couple more wet cyan pieces

I've had one of those weeks where I've been busy but not very much to show. Every year my dear husband celebrates his birthday by having a barbecue , this year it was a pig out. He smoked pork for pulled pork, smoked several racks of ribs and cooked up some sausage, a whole lot of pork. He then invites lots of friends over to eat, they all bring side dishes so there is a whole lot of food. Everyone then gets a bag of pork to take home, needless to say, his pig out was a success and we were both very tired when it was over and cleaned up.

The day before I had friends over for our monthly lunch and we played with the indigo vat. The only piece I did was of some ripped and woven fabric that had been rusted, now it's also blue and rust.

Monday night I got to go over to the hospital and do a sleep study. I did one about 6 years ago and have been using an oral appliance to curtail my snoring, unfortunately it is no longer working. I'm now waiting for the results to see what's next.

Then yesterday I helped a friend sew 8 dog beds, she layered and cut out and I sewed.

We have had some absolutely beautiful weather, so I did do a few wet cyanotype pieces.

These two will probably end up in a composition with the previous ones, they are hanging out on my design wall.

I also did one that combined cyanotype with solar fast.

SAQA Mini Group and Daily Stitching #2 Done

Last Friday four SAQA members and a guest (an artist, but not with fiber) met at my house. We started by spending time in Studio B looking over some of the wonderful artwork in the trunk show.

Linda V, Carol, Gail, Mary Beth and Carol with the trunk show.

We ate lunch and had some wonderful discussions about what each of us wanted from the group. Then back out to the studio to play with some indigo.

It was a great afternoon that slipped by very fast.

Over the weekend I came home from my walk with a large handful of leaves, so I had to do some printing. I think I ended up with about 25 prints.
The top row is gelli prints on muslin, the middle row is botanical prints on silk broadcloth that were dipped in indigo at the end of their two hour steam bath and the bottom row is botanical prints on silk broadcloth. Some of these will be used in my weekly leaf series, the rest will go in my stash and they may show up next year in a weekly series.

Daily #2 almost finished

This week has flown by and I don't have a whole lot to show, but my house is cleaner and the studio is organized, at least by my standards. Tomorrow is the SAQA mini group meeting here, mini because there's not very many of us in this region. I'll try to remember to take pictures, we will be seeing part of the trunk show and doing some indigo.

A couple new wet cyan pieces

I've found that if I reward myself with some playtime, I actually get some studio organization done. Playtime this week was a couple of wet cyanotype prints and I love how they came out. I did some large leaves from my back yard.

This is from a locust that is growing where it's not supposed to, the background is 24" h x 15" w.

This one is from my grape vine, about 16" x16".

I finished the stitching on the two indigo silk pieces, they just need some hanging sleeves and labels, I have no idea what to name them.

Thanks to everyone that commented on their favorite layout for the four inch squares, it was pretty evenly divided between the 2nd and 3rd layout. I've sewn the pieces together in rows, but I haven't sewn the rows together yet so I still have both options available. I'm leaning toward this way.

This is how my design wall looks right now, I've got plenty to work on.
