Some quick indigo

I've had a busy week, Don's daughters and their husbands were here so I stayed out of the studio for the most part only getting minimal stitching done. So yesterday I mixed up an indigo pot and today I spent a bit of time turning a few things blue.

A loose drapey top, a dress, a very large linen gauze scarf(it's folded in half on the line) and a smaller rayon scarf. There's a trip with my daughter and granddaughter in my future to somewhere warm and humid after we get through hubby's chemo and surgery. More about that as time goes by.

Avocado pit dyed piece almost done

Today hubby got to the halfway point in his chemo regimen and is napping to celebrate. Thank you to all of you that have sent well wishes, I really appreciate them all. His daughters are both coming to spend some time with him this weekend, an early birthday surprise. He knows that one is flying up from Phoenix because she told him and I have to go into Boise to pick her up at the airport. The other one is driving up from Reno. We should have a fun weekend.

I pulled out the piece that I had dyed with avocado pits and have the stitching almost complete, just one more spot that needs stitching, then trimming and finishing the edges.

New Quilt

I've been trying to use fabrics that have been in my stash for way to long and just finished a quilt for hubby that used quite a few of those fabrics. My black and white stash is now only small pieces, and I used most of the last bundle of rainbow colored fabrics that I dyed probably nine years ago just before I retired from vending. I told him it was his chemo quilt and it was to keep him warm if he got chilly during his infusions, he did take it with today to show the entire medical staff but didn't fell the need to use it.

SAQA mini conference

Next week I had planned to drive to Bozeman, MT to attend our regional SAQA mini conference, but canceled my plans due to Don's health issues. I did make two pieces for the regional trunk show and got them sent off this week.

An experiment with adding paper. I purchased an old paperback book of plants for the purpose of using in artwork, and I finally used some of it.

2019 Daily Stitching #4 days 8-14

My plan is to do this entirely in running stitch and to have the leaves end up looking like they are layered. I'm not sure how well it will work, but you don't know until you try. So far I think that I should have used a lighter brighter color for the first leaf since it will be one of the ones that will look like it's on top. But it will stay the color it is because one of my rules for daily stitching is that I never rip anything out.
