I've stenciled on them with paintstiks.
The stitching through two layers of cloth and batting will take forever and it's not visible from a distance.
So the new plan, at least for the one with red lettering is to fuse hand dyed silk organza over the letters. I do have some in red, I'm hoping it will be enough.
The largest piece was stenciled with olive green and that shows up better and the smaller piece was stenciled in teal and part of that shows. So stay tuned, I'll see what feels right this week.

OMG I love the way the retired cloths are going! Your idea of fusing silk organza over the quilt top has my mind racing. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAnd you have the organza to do the same thing!
DeleteI can't wait to see how this turns out. You certainly are off to a great start!
ReplyDeleteI'm liking the re-cycled table covering. Very effective colour scheme, and I'm quite taken with the lettering. I think you made the right decision about the hand stitching.
