Trying to get back into my routine.

We've been home for over a week now and I'm still having trouble getting back into my daily routine. Part of my problem is that I've got plantar fasciitis in my right foot which is making walking quite painful. I usually start my morning with a long fast walk, but the most I've been able to do is a slow short one and it's just not the same. Amazing how one little thing can throw me out of sync.

I did do a special order of fabrics and with the leftover dye stock I did some ice dying with the old ice in the ice maker. The fabrics came out very intense and bright.
I love doing these, but never use them and so I'm  creating a rather large collection that's taking up space.
I also put together some of my indigo fabrics that I did a couple of years ago. I just need to figure out what I will be doing stitch wise on them.
My Janome is still in the repair shop, this makes almost seven weeks. Last time I talked to him he was still waiting on parts. In the mean time I'm so fed up with the whole situation that I went to the Bernina dealer and bought a new machine. Unfortunately it's on backorder so I haven't gotten it yet.

My daily, weekly and monthly projects are about all that I've accomplished.

  1. Many years ago I was going to buy a new sewing machine and asked how much they would give me to trade in my old machine (the only way anybody in my family had ever bought a sewing machine). The saleswoman told me they wouldn't give me anywhere near its value, and I should keep it in case the first one needed to go in the shop. I think it was the best advice I ever got in a sewing store. Now I have four working machines and it's nice to be able to have my granddaughter sew with me on "her" machine, to have another that goes to workshops, etc.

Hope you get one or the other machine going before you go crazy.

    1. Fortunately I have and have been using my 20 year old Bernina, It's been doing a great job of filling in.

  2. I also kept my old Bernina as a backup and in some ways it's better than my newer one.
    Your ice dyeing looks gorgeous!

    1. B710 - because it has a 10" throat and not to much fancy stuff.

  4. I had foot trouble a few years back. Dr. wanted to give me some nasty pain meds, I said NO... didn't want more side effect that were worse than the foot pain. (Why do they always do that?) I went out and bought some hard soled shoes (you know - like saddle shoes) and almost immediately felt better! Loved those shoes. Hope this works for you.

    1. Thanks Terri, I was wearing my birkinstocks when I went to the chiropractor and he said they were great for my feet.

  5. I only have one machine and was terrified it would break when I was dangerously close to a deadline to an entry. I hope one day to have a back up machine. Your stitching on the indigo rust is precious.

    1. I'd really be depressed without my back up machine. The Janome dealer called yesterday - the part is in and the machine may be ready today!!!
