"Settled"
20"w x 24"h
vintage silk ties, kimonos and sari
Now on to new projects.
2019 Weekly Leaf, wk 1
This is the fifth year of doing leaves and I'm starting out with some extra prints that I've made over the years. The first is a botanical print on vintage silk taffeta.
72 days of Landscapes
The first 72 days of the year I'll be making a small landscape piece each day, they will all be 6" x 8" some horizontal and some vertical. The base fabric on all of them is a piece of canvas, the actually landscape will be made from a variety of materials, fabric, paper, machine stitching, hand stitching, watercolor crayons, etc. I'm using the term landscape quite loosely and I'm hoping that they get better as I progress through the project.
day 1
watercolor crayons, dyed paper towels and kimono scrap with hand stitching
Day 2
watercolor crayons with both machine and hand stitching
Day 3
handmade paper, dyed paper towel and hand stitching
2019 Daily stitching, days 1-3
This year I'm stitching on a vintage damask napkin that is 21inches square. There is a circular design woven into the fabric that I'll be stitching first, after that I'll probably start making things up. There are floral designs woven in but I'll be ignoring those.
Visiting your place is never a disappointment, Linda. Your 72 Days of Landscapes is going to be magic. I love your new leaves. AND....your Settled work of art is a masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteThank you Kim.
DeleteI look forward to seeing your landscapes and your daily stitching. I was gifted with a set of vintage napkins. I think I have enough dyed ones, perhaps I should do some stitching on them instead.
ReplyDeleteI have about thirty dyed ones and these were in such beautiful condition I thought I'd do some stitching, I have 6 that match.
DeleteSuch a lovely variety of projects to work on.
ReplyDelete"Settled" is gorgeous... love the variety of coloured threads you used!
Thank you.
DeleteThe silk project has a wonderful sheen and your stitches add great texture with the matching threads. The landscapes look so fun. I’m looking forward to seeing your progress on the new projects
ReplyDeleteI love your finish. What a wonderful way to use log cabins. I am looking forward to seeing what you do with that vintage napkin.
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm looking forward to it also:).
