I was interviewed by Cheryl Rezendes back in March for Stitch-it Today magazines Contemporary artist series. The magazine is out now and I'm very pleased with the way Cheryl made sense of our conversation. It's all about my daily and weekly stitching.
This is what the cover looks like;
My two pages :)
The Weekly Leaf
This weeks leaf is a gelli print of a real leaf, I forgot to take a picture of the leaf, but this is what the print looked like before stitching.

Finding Studio Time
Last week was the National Old time Fiddlers contest in Weiser and I always volunteer to help with tabulating the judges scores, I love doing it but it sure cuts into my studio time. I did manage to do two quick projects along with my daily and weekly ones. When we were in Washington my daughter kept commenting that her very spoiled little dog need her own red velvet pillow. I happened to have a piece of velveteen that I'd dyed red so the pillow got made. It went in the mail today and I forgot to take a picture.
The other project was to dye a dress that one of my granddaughters had bought at a thrift store. here's the before shot. She wanted it green with some circles.
.And the after shot.
The Weekly Leaf
I used the ferns that I brought home from Washington, the gelli plate and green textile paint.
Here's the leaves on the paint covered gelli plate.
The first and second prints.

Road Trip
The sun was even shining on our way there and Mt Rainier was peeking over the trees. Not much sun the rest of the trip, but that is normal for this area. The plus side of all that rain is that things are very green and growing.
We were there in April of 2010 to help build a geodesic dome greenhouse. The area where the greenhouse sits was completely cleared, this is how it looks now. I wrote four blog posts about building it and those four posts get more hits than anything else I've written.
We were there to help celebrate a grand daughter's high school graduation. Here she is with her Cheerleading/t-shirt quilt.
As we were packing up to leave yesterday morning I quickly grabbed some leaves in hopes of using them for printing.
I particularly love the ferns, they don't do well in our high desert climate.
The Weekly Leaf
This weeks leaf was drawn onto freezer paper, cut out, ironed to my fabric and then printed using paintstiks. The color was applied to and then brushed off the freezer paper.
Week #24
I'll have more to share about this leaf in a few months :).

Special Weekend Visitors
My youngest son, the owner of the very fancy bike below,
came to stay for a few days because he was in the Iron Man race in Boise. He brought the little cutie shown below, with him so that she could hang out with Grandma while he was busy with racing.
We went to the park, walked the dog, smelled every flower we saw, used up some sidewalk chalk, watched Frozen, went to the zoo and watched her Daddy cross the finish line. It was a great weekend.
The Weekly Leaf
This weeks leaves were some weed leaves that were printed with Jaquard textile paint and a gelli plate. I forgot to take before pictures.

Play day
Last Friday I had four novice fabric painters come to Studio B to play with fabric paint.
Here are Julie, Barbara, Thea and Sue getting some fabric ready to sun print. Below are the silk scarves drying in the sun while we had lunch.
Sue and Julie modeling their new scarves.
They also stamped some fabrics, creating some really great designs but I forgot to take pictures. They had so much fun that we have already set two more play dates for the summer. I also challenged them to make something out of their new fabric to bring for show and tell the next time.
