Quick and easy Valentine postcards

Every Valentines Day I send Valentine Fabric Postcards to some special young people in my life and I always seem to wait until the last minute to make them. This year was no exception, but they are done. This year I took a piece of white fabric large enough for a few cards and ironed it to a piece of freezer paper. Then out came my Sharpie collection and I drew hearts all over the fabric. Use regular Sharpies, not the ones designed for fabric.
Next I used a brush and brushed on rubbing alcohol, this makes the sharpie marks bleed.
Then apply fusible to the back of the fabric, cut into 4" x 6" rectangles and fuse to Timtex (also cut 4" x 6"). Take them to the sewing machine and stitch around some of the hearts. I also went back in and drew a few more small hearts with the Sharpies.
Fuse fabric to the backs (I used plain white), zig zag around the edges, sign the backs, and they are ready for address and messages, all in less than an hour.

  3. Love the Valentine postcards! The bleeding ink gives them a sort of graffiti look that is playful and fun. Glad I saw your link on Off the Wall Fridays!

  6. I like the way the sharpies bled all over the place! Does it need to be heat set afterward?
