Hundertwasser
One of the highlights of our trip (at least for me), was a stop to see an apartment building designed by Hundertwasser .I have been a fan of his work for a long time and before we left had checked my Vienna guide book for the location of the building. It would not have been possible to walk to it from where our boat was docked, so I was disappointed, but decided to focus on what we could do. Then the first night on the boat I read through the listing of optional tours and to my delight the bus tour of Vienna included a stop at the Hundertwasser house! I signed up immediately. It was tough to get pictures because it's in a narrow alley with an undulating street that was packed with other tourists besides me.
I did purchase a few things.
I already have a book of his work and have used it for inspiration in the past. In 2003 I participated in a Journal Quilt project and all of my monthly pieces were based on parts of his artwork.
Since returning home I've been inspired again by his artwork and have a couple of different ideas working away in my mind.

I'd like to see that building some day, or another one of his. And your "old" pieces based on his work as well.
ReplyDeleteI also loved Hundertwasser when I was in Vienna and of course thought of making a quilt. I never did, but recently came across the booklet I had bought there and was inspired all over again. Good for you on doing the journals.
