First before anything else, if you commented last week, Thank you. Blogger will not let me respond to comments and I'm also back to not receiving them in my email. Frustrating because I have no idea what to change or how to correct it. I also discovered that last week was my 600th post, you'd think by now I would have this figured out :).
I've been playing with scraps again, I have a little orange bucket that holds assorted blue, orange, brown and a few other colors of scraps and I'm piecing them into semi circles.
I have no idea where this idea is going, but it allows me to just sit and sew, one of my favorite things to do.
Now for something totally unrelated, I'm on the Board of Trustees for our local Library and this past weekend I went to a Trustees Workshop. The sharing of ideas and things that work for other small town libraries was very energizing. It also made me realize how much I miss that type of interaction. I haven't been to a fiber related retreat, conference or workshop in several years, I'm thinking it must be time to do that again.
2019Weekly Leaf, week #15
I have a coleus that has some wonderful fuchsia and green leaves, so this week I borrowed one of the leaves, gel printed it in green and did some fuchsia stitching.
2019 Daily Stitching #2, days 8-14
I love the texture that the crossed running stitch creates. Now it's time to make a decision on what to do in the center.

Scraps
I've put together one more top out of donated scraps, but now have another large bag full in my sewing studio. Here's the top
And here are the bags of scraps, many of them are fat quarter size or larger.
I have a friend whose Mom makes lots of donation quilts from scraps so I'm going to give her most of them, I have enough of my own.
Speaking of scraps, this is the container of scraps I'm using for the landscape project. I shove everything back in and put the lid on everyday. It feels like it's getting fuller, I must have everything stirred up pretty well.

And the stitching goes on...
I pulled out scraps again this weekend and pieced another donation top.
The stripes are pieced and were originally made for something else at least a decade ago, feels good to actually use them. Sometimes I wonder if I will ever run out of scraps.

Another one from the dyed soaked paper towel.

I'm running out of pages in the sketchbook, so I'm doing more than one per page and using a different pen. The last four were done with a Micron 05. Only 12 days to go.

Sewing together scraps
It has been hot here, hovering around 100 degrees (F) and projected to go over that today. I've been staying cool in my air conditioned sewing studio until almost 5pm then head out to the local pool to take an hour of water aerobics. The water feels so good.
One of my favorite things to do is to sew scraps together, I refer to it as mindless sewing and it's a great way to spend these hot days and to get rid of some of my stash. The scraps end up as quilt tops, I switch gears and do some simple quilting and then donate them. Some go to a children's cancer treatment center and others go to a local relief nursery or Project Linus. So my design wall has been busy this week. Here is how it looked at the start of the week.
The green one came down and up went a very colorful one.
Here's some closeup shots.
Then the cyanotype prints on the left came down and up went another in red, white and blue.
A few more blue strips were added to it and now it looks like this.

I have another pile of scraps in green and beige, but I think I'll make backings and quilt these first.
