A real quick post, we have family here for Christmas for the first time in the 15 years we've lived here.
I've finished this years leaves, but I love doing them so next year will be the same.

The tree keeps getting more branches.
I've been experiencing some problems with my blog, I find that it loads very slowly and I've had a regular blog friend that let me know that it also loads very slowly for her and she has been unable to leave a comment. I have no idea what to do about this and haven't had the time this week to try to find the problem. If anyone knows a solution, could you please share it with me. Thanks.

Another donation quilt top
Before my hubby spent time in the hospital I ordered 2 packs of 5" squares, then while killing time on the internet when he was in the hospital I saw a pattern that looked interesting and was easy to remember. The fabric was waiting for me when we got back home and I've been slipping into the studio when possible and now have the top done. It will be a donation quilt.
While trying to get into a festive mood, I dug into the back of my closet and pulled out a shirt that I decorated over 20 years ago. It was fun to get it out and wear it again.

The buttons were from my Mom's and Mother in Laws button boxes, all glued down with glitter paint.

Daily Stitching
My tree is slowly gaining branches. I'm finding that I'm having some trouble working on this one and I think it's because I sketched it out first so I have a preconceived idea of what it will look like. Normally I sit down and stitch with no definite plan and I feel very comfortable doing that.
This one won't be finished this year, it will be continued into the new year. It's about time for me to decide if I want to start another stitching project for the new year or just keep going with one. Maybe I'll know by next the post.
Happy Holidays!

Stitching a Tree
A short quick post this week, it's been a little stressful here but some stitching has been done.
2019 Weekly Leaf, week 50(already!)
SolarFast on silk
2019 Daily Stitching #5
I'm stitching a tree. This time of year I get a tiny bit obsessive about bare naked trees, I take pictures, lots of pictures, but this year I decided to actually stitch one.
This is the sketch I drew.
So far I've outlined the trunk and main branches.
There's a whole lot more stitching to do and I'm not even sure how I'm going to do some of it, but I'll just keep plugging along.
I finished the socks!

Another Project Done
I would like to Thank all those who left messages of support for my husbands surgery. It's over, we are back home, there were a few problems but he got through it and is doing fairly well. He has about 4-6 weeks for recovery and I can see an improvement everyday. Next step is in 10 days we go back to Boise for another test and hopefully catheter removal, step by step to get healthy again. Cancer sure changes your life. This was the view from his 6th floor hospital window, the bear sculpture on the roof of the Children's Hospital.
25 Million Stitches
Finished! Now I just need to package it up and mail it in.

2019 Daily Stitching #5
I took a break this week, so there's no progress to show.
What I did do with all my time sitting and waiting was knit, I only have a couple more rows to go and this sock will be done.

A Slow Start to Daily Stitching #5
This was a busy week, I had seven family members here for four days so my stitching time was minimal. We had a great time even though five of our group didn't make it because of weather. We did the annual Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving morning, with the usual coffee stop on the way home.
On Friday morning instead of Black Friday shopping we stayed home and created.

2019 Daily Stitching #5
It's started but not much has been done. To start with the color selection is minimal, but may change as I progress.

25 Million Stitches
Almost done, some more background to finish up.
My husbands surgery will be this coming week in Boise, so I will be spending time there in the hospital. I'll have some stitching, knitting and reading with me, and will be staying in a motel rather than driving back and forth.

Daily Stitching #4 is done!
2019 Daily Stitching #4 , 85 Days
#5 is ready to stitch, I've narrowed my ideas down and have the felt fused to the back of the napkin and I'm ready to start!

There is now a website that gives all the information on this project, click the link above.
I've finished my hands and have moved on to the background.
I've also been following them on Instagram and Facebook and it is so inspiring to see what people around the world are doing.

Daily Stitching #4 almost done
I'm almost finished with my fourth daily stitching for the year, just some blank spots around the edges are left to do.
I'm still undecided on what to do for the next one, I have three ideas in the running. Hopefully by next week I'll have settled on one.

The third hand is done, just the background is left to stitch. It looks rather lumpy now but with the background filled in it will smooth out.

Oak Leaves
A friend of mine has an oak tree in her backyard so I gathered a hand full of leaves to print. Most of the oak trees around here are red oak and have points at the end of the leaves, but I was told this is a Burr Oak and the leaves are more rounded. At any rate I liked the shape of the leaves. I had time to do four cyanotype prints, removed the color from three of them, left one that way and then toned the other two. So far I have the prints, an idea or two of what I want to do with them, but that's as far as I've gotten.
The top left is the unadulterated cyanotype, top right is with the color removed, bottom left is toned with red wine and bottom right is toned with tea.
