Quilting Arts TV taping

I spent a good part of this week in Cleveland, OH where I was one of the guest artists taping next seasons shows. It was an amazing experience, I loved every bit of it. The photo above was taken just before the taping of my first segment, I forgot to have my camera around for the second segment. I'll be on episode #1204 doing masks for deconstructive screen printing and on episode #1209 talking about my daily stitching projects.

Just before I left I got my SAQA donation entry in, Don mailed it for me while I was gone. I ended up sending in a tree piece I had done last year, it was the right size and finished.

I'm very proud of my friends Lisa Flowers Ross and Kathleen Probst  , both have articles in Quilting Arts latest "In Stitches" e magazine.

The only thing else I've done is my daily and weekly stitching projects.

Week #13 and close up.

Queen size done

I finished the queen size commissioned quilt and the very pleased owner picked it up this morning.  I did put it on one of our spare beds to get a picture first.
Also a photo of the back.
It feels good to have more creative space back in my studio, but I won't be creating anything new for a week or so. Right now I'm prepping for a trip to Cleveland to tape a couple of segments for Quilting Arts TV. I fly out very early on Monday, so early that I have to leave home at 3 am to get to the airport in time. I'll let you know at the end of next week how it went.

One birthday year project done and another started

Today is my birthday!!!! Yesterday I finished the black on white daily stitching and have them all sewn together.
Here are the last three.
A close up of the last one.

The whole thing.
I've enjoyed doing this sew much that I've now started another one. This year I'll be using fabrics that I've either rusted or indigo dyed. I have quite a few pieces of both, but at some time during the year I will have to do more. I've wanted to do more anyway but couldn't justify it if I wasn't using them - so now I am. Here is what I'm starting with.

The first one is done.
I'm keeping with the same 4" size .
Here are #70 - #72 of the other group.

and a close up of week #11
Now I'm off to get a massage, my birthday gift to myself. I've already spent the morning with a friend for coffee, a visit to our favorite nursery, a bit of shopping and lunch.

Socks and more mono prints

I'm a rather slow knitter, I average one pair of socks per winter but I have finished this winter's pair.

I've decided to cut up the 20" square mono prints that were in my last post. I have nine more the same size, so some of those will be cut up also. It will probably be a few weeks until I can start working on them so they've been put away so I'm not tempted. I found some mono prints on cotton that had been done about the same time.  I had already cut out parts of them but had enough left to cut out sixteen 3 1/2" squares, have sewn them together and will do hand stitching in black on them for my SAQA auction piece.

Daily stitching #353 - #358, plus a close up.

#60 - #65 plus close up

Week #10 plus close up

I've also finished the quilting on the queen size quilt and now have to sew the five sections together.
