Here we are at the second week of the year already and my stitching projects are progressing.

2019 Weekly Leaf

This weeks leaf is a leftover print from year 3 (2016) of my weekly leaves. It's the first print or shape print from a gelli plate, the 2nd print is the detail print. You can see the second print here by scrolling down to week #41. The two prints of the same leave are quite different.

72 Days of Landscapes #4-10

I'm enjoying doing these, they are very quick and I'm just using stuff I have in the studio. I'm finding it quite freeing to just do something that I have absolutely no plan for. It would be nice if they improved as I go along, but it's just meant to be an exercise and a way of marking time.

New Projects for a New Year

The start of a New Year is always better when you have some new things to work on, but first a finish.

2019 Weekly Leaf, wk 1
 This is the fifth year of doing leaves and I'm starting out with some extra prints that I've made over the years. The first is a botanical print on vintage silk taffeta.

72 days of Landscapes

The first 72 days of the year I'll be making a small landscape piece each day, they will all be 6" x 8" some horizontal and some vertical. The base fabric on all of them is a piece of canvas, the actually landscape will be made from a variety of materials, fabric, paper, machine stitching, hand stitching, watercolor crayons, etc. I'm using the term landscape quite loosely and I'm hoping that they get better as I progress through the project.

2019 Daily stitching, days 1-3

This year I'm stitching on a vintage damask napkin that is 21inches square. There is a circular design woven into the fabric that I'll be stitching first, after that I'll probably start making things up. There are floral designs woven in but I'll be ignoring those.

2018 Daily and Weekly Projects Done

On Christmas Day I finished both my daily and weekly projects for the year, so I've time to work on getting the next ones prepped and ready to start. I also finished piecing my silk piece and have started the stitching it. Here's how it looked when I finished.

I spent most of a morning removing all the paper from the back.

These are the pearl cotton threads I'm stitching with.

I painted the edges of a canvas black and pillowcase a black backing onto the piece.

Two years worth of daily stitching, time for a change.

This week I'm making the final decisions on next years projects, getting materials collected and getting ready to start again.

 I've been doing daily stitching projects since the beginning of 2012, you can see them all here, in the order they were done. Some years I worked on two simultaneously, one from the beginning of the year, the other from birthday to birthday. This year I'll be making some changes again which makes me feel a bit unsettled, but I know once I get started I'll get into the rhythm and feel more comfortable.
This vintage white napkin (and 15 others) was a gift from my friend Lisa. It has been fused to white felt and is waiting for the new year,

I'll be continuing with leaves for my weekly stitching.

In March I'll be 72 and that is the 73rd day of the year, so I'll be starting something brand new to do for each day leading up to my birthday. Here's a peek at some of the materials involved.

I may be sorry with this one because I've already broken one of my rules and have to much stuff involved, we shall see what happens.
