On Sunday I drove over to Eagle, ID to meet up with friends that I haven't seen for several months and it was wonderful. We met at Kathleen's new house/studio, got the tour, met someone new, shared our art work and ate. Pat Budge joined us for the first time and I do hope she joins us again in the future. Our potluck lunches are the best! Everyone just brings something and we end up with an interesting variety of delicious food. The big hit this time was lime cookies that Lisa brought.
On Monday I spent the day in Caldwell, ID at an exercise training class. We have a free program for seniors here in Idaho called Fit and Fall Proof, I have been participating off and on for a little over a year. I'm now one of the leaders of our group here in Weiser. There are five of us that take turns leading the hour long class. The class attendance ranges from about twenty to over forty participants with an age range from early sixties to mid nineties, with a large range of physical abilities. I know I always feel better when I'm physically active so I figured this was the ideal way to keep me motivated and going.
The Weekly Leaf
I used a Solarfast for this weeks leaf, Burnt orange Solarfast on hand dyed yellow cotton with a couple of geranium leaves.

Weekly and Daily Stitching
All I have to show this week is the Weekly Leaf and my daily stitching. I've been busy, just not busy in the studio.
The Weekly Leaf
This weeks leaf is a trace monotype, thanks to my friend Lisa I now know what it's called. The first one I did several weeks ago and this was my second attempt, it came out better. I rolled the paint onto the gelli plate, laid down my fabric, put my drawing on top and very carefully traced the drawing without putting any other pressure on the gelli plate.

Crab Apple tree, Tulips and some stitching
I'm feeling better, the weather has been incredibly beautiful, so I've been out enjoying it. My Prairie Fire Crab Apple tree is in full bloom and is full of buzzing bees.
Then there are my tulips, oh my, I can't resist taking closeups.
The Weekly Leaf
I took advantage of the wonderful sunshine and did a blueprint (cyanotype). I used pretreated fabric from Blueprints on Fabric. This may look familiar to some, I used the same dried mimosa leaf that was used in last years SAQA donation. Here it is out in the sun
Before rinsing.
After rinsing.

Little to Show
All I have to show this week are my weekly and daily stitching, I've had a cold and all I wanted to do was sleep. I'm feeling better but still not 100%. To add to it I've been working on a magazine article that I'll talk about this summer and doing training classes for an exercise program that I'll be one of the leaders of. Not a good time to feel out of it.
The Weekly Leaf
Very simple this week, I stenciled a leaf using a stencil from Green Pepper Press and a paintstik.
